ONCOLOGY-EMBEDDED CLINIC-Clinical Pharmacist

Novant Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist, to join our outpatient oncology pharmacy team, to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time. 

In this clinical role, the pharmacist is embedded inside a medical oncology clinic to partner with provider and nursing teams to support direct patient care in a fast-paced environment.  Pharmacists are valued as an integral part of the clinical oncology team.  In this role, the pharmacist will also be able to participate in groundbreaking new clinical trials in partnership with our investigational drug services team.

Essential functions include:

  1. Clinical review, entry and modification of oncology treatment plans.
  2. Oncology order verification, hazardous and non-hazardous sterile admixture check.
  3. Partnership with clinic providers and nursing to provide remarkable patient care.
  4. Proficiency with equipment and software.
  5. Resident (PGY1/PGY2) and student precepting.
  6. Participation in committees such as P&T, tumor boards and shared governance.
  7. Order set review and development.
  8. Medication therapy management and patient counseling.

Qualifications

  1. Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required. Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.
  2. Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required.  Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  3. Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
  4. Additional skills required:  Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.

In this clinical role, the pharmacist is embedded inside the hematology and transplant team to partner with provider and nursing teams to support direct patient care in a fast-paced environment.  Pharmacists are valued as an integral part of the clinical oncology team.  In this role, the pharmacist will also be able to participate in groundbreaking new clinical trials in partnership with our investigational drug services team.
